Whats the best way to fly to New Zealand from Ireland?

I am going travelling to New Zealand & Australia next yr from Ireland (Co Clare) and want to know the best & cheapest route to take? Where will we fly from and to and can we get a connecting ticket to Australia from NZ or will it be a seperate ticket? As you can tell i havent much experience with this travelling thing but I am hoping to become an expert!! Also how much cash do you think I would need to travel for approx 6mths??
